Bang Design
Formed in Sydney in the late 80's by designers
Bryan Marshall and David Granger, bangdesign is one of Australia's
leading design studios. With a strong focus on furniture and product,
bangdesign is a truly diverse operation designing exhibitions,
furniture, interiors, packaging, products, promotional and textile projects.
They have worked internationally with clients in Australia, New Zealand,
North America, and Germany including Bernhardt Design USA, Canon Australia
Pty Ltd, Caroma Industries Ltd, Electrolux Home Products Pty Ltd, QANTAS
Airways Limited, SOCOG Sydney Olympics 2000, and Woven Image Pty Ltd Aust/UK.
Winning design awards in Australia and New Zealand
for products like PLUS Series Lounge Furniture for Formway, Myriad Low-Profile
Tapware for Dorf, Talon Chair for Talon, bangdesign's work has
been exhibited throughout Australia, in Italy at Salone Del Mobile, in
America at NeoCon, in Germany at Orgatec, and is part of the permanent
collection at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
Driven by a passion for collaboration, bangdesign
pursues an all-embracing approach, not just design in isolation, but pushing
the boundaries of the entire project and how it is represented.
The process of design may be complex, but for
bangdesign the resulting product appears simple and innate, enabling
the product's values and benefits to be digested and enjoyed.
It's about embedding an emotive value in products
and environments.
The design ethos of bangdesign extends
beyond the apparent borders of industrial design where the endeavour is
to create lasting value beyond styling.
Both Bryan and David studied together at the
University of Canberra in Australia, and significantly their collaboration
on projects has been a constant for 20 years. Their work has been widely
published internationally: AA Magazine (Aust), Ambiente Magazine (Germany),
Ardi Magazine (Spain), Axis Magazine (Japan), Belle Magazine (Aust), Design
News Magazine (Japan), Design Week Magazine (UK), InDesign Magazine (Aust),
International Design Yearbook '94 '95 '96 UK, Intramuros Magazine (France),
Modo Magazine (Italy), POLOxygen (Aust), Vogue (Aust).
