Born in Los Angeles, David Kim spent his early childhood in Korea but returned to UCLA to study philosophy. Pursuing an interest in art and design, he moved to NY for an internship at Nas Industries, an apparel manufacturer, where he was exposed to the manufacturing process, branding, and graphic design of sports apparel. Subsequently applying for acceptance into the product design program at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA, he was awarded a Martha Chandler Endowed Scholarship.
Kim’s occasional table Skue made its international debut at the 2011 Milan Furniture Fair. His other work includes an interactive exhibition installation for sustainability and sea level rise sponsored by the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach; design of mobile workstations in Herman Miller ’s Design Storm; and resource advisor in Art Center ’s Color, Material and Trends laboratory.
